Inserting breathings, iota-subscripts and accents

The basic technique for entering a letter with breathings, iota subscripts and accents is as follows:

1. Type the basic letter (e.g., an alpha)
2. Use the appropriate keyboard shortcut or Toolbar button to add breathings, accents and iota subscripts to the preceding letter.

Once you have typed the letter you want, you can use the following keyboard shortcuts to insert the required breathing, iota-subscript or accent:

Sometimes, a Greek letter needs a combination of symbols in a given word. For example, suppose you need to type the letter alpha with a smooth breathing, an acute accent and an iota subscript:

 1.
Type the letter alpha using the usual keyboard letter a.
 2.
CTRL + h (CTRL + r or [ ) will insert the rough breathing above the alpha.
 3.
CTRL + a (CTRL + ; ) will insert the acute accent beside the rough breathing above the alpha.
 4.
CTRL + i will insert the iota subscript beneath the alpha.

The alternative method of entering these symbols is to use the Greek Toolbar. You may find that keyboard shortcuts are useful for inserting common symbols but the Toolbar is useful for more unusual symbols.
